Description

1990 Porsche RUF 964 RCT Carrera 2 – Midnight Blue Metallic
Among Porsche devotees, the name Alois Ruf carries almost mythical weight. From a small shop in Pfaffenhausen, RUF became a fully recognized manufacturer, earning worldwide fame in 1987 when the Yellow Bird stunned Road & Track’s top-speed shootout at over 210 mph, nearly ten faster than its nearest rival. By the 1990s RUF had perfected the art of building a Porsche that could outperform contemporary supercars, and the RCT (RUF Carrera Turbo) was its signature expression of the 964 generation.
Originally delivered in 1990 through Porsche Zentrum Dortmund, this 911 left the factory in Midnight Blue Metallic over a Classic Grey ruffled-leather interior and was optioned with a limited-slip differential, heated seats, and an electric sliding sunroof. The first owner, Dr. Walter Stoll, cherished the car for 28 years, and the original Porsche purchase invoice is still on file. After years of diligent dealer servicing, he sent it back to RUF in 1999, when the car had covered 68,570 km, for a full Motorumbau RCT conversion, remaining the original Porsche VIN, documented by the original RUF invoice and its official RUF build certificate.
Today the odometer shows just 58,400 km since the RUF conversion, with a fully documented lifetime total of 126,970 km.
The RUF transformation created a true Pfaffenhausen masterpiece. Beneath the rear decklid sits a turbocharged and intercooled 3.6-liter flat-six with Bosch Motronic management, delivering 370 horsepower and 395 lb-ft of torque through a RUF-designed six-speed G50/20 transmission—a gearbox so good that Porsche later used the same six-speed layout in the 993. Supporting upgrades included uprated suspension and brakes, a RUF exhaust system, sculpted front spoiler, 964 Turbo rear wing, RUF airbag steering wheel, RUF instrumentation set to “000,” and 18-inch RUF Speedline wheels. In narrow-body form, performance was extraordinary: 0–100 km/h in 4.5 seconds and a 305 km/h top speed. Road & Track famously observed that you can push the RCT “deep into a corner, and just as you’re expecting it to get light, the car plants its tires and takes a set like cement.”
Care and documentation match the mechanical pedigree. The RCT retains a full, well-stamped service history, including regular maintenance at RUF and Porsche specialists. In 2021 it returned to Pfaffenhausen for a detailed inspection and servicing totaling nearly €9,500, and in 2022 it received further Porsche-certified maintenance in Papendorf. Its comprehensive history file includes the original order form, the 1990 purchase invoice, the 1999 RUF conversion invoice, the official RUF build certificate, German registration papers, and every major service record.
This 1990 RUF 964 RCT Carrera 2 unites the elgant shapes of a 964 with the brute power and engineering brilliance that made Alois Ruf a legend.
Grab your chance to acquire this impeccably documented, single-ownership RUF, that remains as thrilling today as the day it left Pfaffenhausen.
