Brooklands
In 2008, Bentley revived a legendary name: Brooklands, paying tribute to the famous British racing circuit of the early 20th century. Unlike the Arnage-based Brooklands of the 1990s, this new model was conceived as a luxury coupé a bold move in a world increasingly shifting toward lighter, sportier cars.
Built on the Arnage platform, the Brooklands was designed to be the ultimate expression of old-world British craftsmanship and brute force performance.
Only 550 units were planned, each hand-assembled at Crewe.
At its heart sat Bentley’s venerable 6.75-liter twin-turbocharged V8, tuned to deliver 537 hp and a staggering 1,050 Nm of torque at the time, the most torque of any production car in the world.
Despite its weight (over 2.6 tons), the Brooklands could surge from 0–100 km/h in around 5.3 seconds and reach a top speed of 296 km/h, an astonishing feat for such a grand, opulent coupé.
The interior was a showcase of traditional luxury: thick hides, polished wood veneers, and deep carpets, with nearly unlimited options for personalization.
Unlike the Continental GT, the Brooklands was aimed at Bentley’s most traditional clientele those who valued exclusivity and craftsmanship above modernity.
Ultimately, the 2008 Brooklands stood as one of the last true old-school Bentleys, powered by the legendary pushrod V8 introduced in the 1950s.
It bridged the gap between the stately Arnage era and the modern, Volkswagen-led Bentley age, becoming a rare collectible today.
