Description
For sale: Jeep CJ7 V8 Golden Eagle in Alpaca Brown.
This CJ7 was ordered in 1979 (and delivered in early 1980) in Colorado by a pilot from the US Air Force. With chassis number 000446, it was one of the first CJ7s of model year 1980 to be delivered, built in August 1979. (The numbering of the chassis was mixed up at Jeep, so among those first 446 jeeps there were also Wagoneers, pickups, and Chiefs).
This is a genuine Golden Eagle V8 and not a converted one.
A Warn 8274 high-speed winch was also ordered new, and it is still with the Jeep. Warn is still making the same winch model for 45 years without many changes.
Shortly after delivery, the owner was transferred to Soesterberg (the Netherlands) and the US Air Force transported the Jeep to the Netherlands as moving goods. In the course of 1981, the owner was transferred again and he sold the Jeep to a Dutchman from Soesterberg. I bought the Jeep from this gentleman (the title from 1981 is still there).
The car has stood for a long time at the owner's vacation home in Hungary. There, the "bird" on the hood was seen as too aggressive and removed.
We have re-applied this, but the quality of this sticker is not what it should be.
1980 was a transitional year for the CJ7. It was the last year that the V8 was available from the factory, as well as the last year of the golden eagle. The first year of the TF999 (automatic) and the Dana 300. This combination drives much better and is a lot more reliable than the TH400 - Quadra Trac that was available between '79 and '79.
The seats in this golden eagle (and in the golden hawk and renegade) were only available in 1980 (the vertical stripes) and were subsequently reserved for the Laredo models.
The driver's seat had some signs of use, but luckily I still had some material from a previous restoration and had it repaired by a specialized company. 1980 was also the first year for the high seats.
This engine was worn out after 45 years and we replaced it with a fully refurbished 360 that we picked up from a specialist in Stuttgart. The engine is equipped with an Edelbrock intake and carburetor. The engine was installed (and run in) by a specialist in Bunschoten.
The car comes with full metal doors and a hardtop (the hardtop has been restored but still needs to be painted). Furthermore, there is also a like-new Bestop soft top included with removable fabric doors. I found this after a long search in the desired colour. (New ones are available in a lighter shade of brown, which does not match the car).
And a bikini top in the same colour for emergencies.
Additionally, 5 new BF Goodrich All-Terrain tires have been put on the Jeep. The interior is completely original, and the body and frame are rustfree.
Parts of the jeep have been resprayed in the past. If you look closely, you can see a small colour difference.
Some original parts were missing (such as the tire carrier, bumperettes, jack, etc.). We had these powder-coated and reassembled them as they should be.
