Zonder enige twijfel is de Citroën Traction Avant een icoon in de auto industrie. En dat is niet alleen omdat de auto lange tijd op de markt is geweest (van 1934 tot 1957) of omdat er zulke grote aantallen van deze stijlvolle franse klassieker zijn geproduceerd. De auto was voor die tijd bijzonder revolutionair vanwege de voorwielaandrijving en een zelfdragende carrosserie. Het resultaat is een heerlijk soepel rijdende (en comfortabel verende) auto met heel veel interieurruimte.

Deze prachtige Traction Avant 11B is een van de later geproduceerde exemplaren. De auto is geproduceerd in 1955 en heeft lange tijd in Frankrijk gereden. De auto is in Frankrijk volledig gerestaureerd (foto’s aanwezig) en ook voorzien van een nieuw gestoffeerd interieur. Tevens is de elektrische installatie gewijzigd van 6 volt naar 12 volt, voor meer bedrijfszekerheid. De auto is in 2004 in Nederland gekomen. Om de conditie van de auto naar een nog hoger niveau te brengen, heeft de vorige eigenaar de carrosserie laten overspuiten door een professioneel spuitbedrijf. Ook het chroomwerk is volledig vernieuwd en de aluminium delen zijn opnieuw gepolijst. Het resultaat is een schitterende Citroën Traction Avant in (bijna) perfecte conditie. Zelden hebben we zo’n mooie auto gezien in zo’n uitmuntende staat.

De carrosserie is nog in perfecte conditie. De lak heeft een diepe glans en de diverse chroom- en sierdelen zijn als nieuw. De vorige eigenaar heeft speciale (afneembare) steenslagbeschermers laten maken om de carrosserie in nieuwstaat te houden. Daardoor is deze auto in uitmuntende staat en ligt de kwaliteitsklasse bijzonder hoog. De carrosseriedelen sluiten goed op elkaar aan en ook de diverse rubberdelen zijn in goede conditie. De stijlvolle white-wall banden geven de auto een extra stijlvol accent.

Het interieur is ook nog als nieuw. Zoals eerder genoemd, is de bekleding opnieuw gestoffeerd, met zoveel mogelijk behoud van originaliteit. De bekleding ziet er dus precies hetzelfde uit, als toen de auto uit de fabriek kwam. Het dashboard is ook nog in zeer goede conditie en alle instrumenten werken naar behoren. De stoelen zitten bijzonder comfortabel (we hadden ook niet anders verwacht) en de enorme ruimte is werkelijk verrassend.

Voor een auto uit de jaren 50 rijdt deze Traction Avant bijzonder soepel en comfortabel. Het sturen gaat heel soepel en ook het schakelen gaat makkelijk en trefzeker. De remmen voelen degelijk en stevig aan. De volledig gereviseerde ruilmotor loopt bijzonder soepel en rustig. De radiateur is ook vernieuwd en de auto is ook voorzien van een elektronische ontsteking. Kortom, deze auto is zowel technisch als optisch in werkelijke topstaat, wachtend op de volgende liefhebber!

Without a doubt, the Citroën Traction Avant is an icon in the automotive industry. And that is not just because the car has been on the market for a long time (from 1934 to 1957) or because such large numbers of this stylish French classic were produced. The car was particularly revolutionary for that time because of its front-wheel drive and a self-supporting body. The result is a wonderfully smooth-driving (and comfortably suspended) car with lots of interior space.

This beautiful Traction Avant 11B is one of the later produced examples. The car was produced in 1955 and drove in France for a long time. The car has been completely restored in France (photos available) and also equipped with a new upholstered interior. The electrical installation has also been changed from 6 volts to 12 volts, for greater operational reliability. The car came to the Netherlands in 2004. To take the condition of the car to an even higher level, the previous owner had the bodywork repainted by a professional spraying company. The chrome has also been completely renewed and the aluminum parts have been re-polished. The result is a beautiful Citroën Traction Avant in (almost) perfect condition. Rarely have we seen such a beautiful car in such excellent condition.

The bodywork is still in perfect condition. The paint has a deep shine and the various chrome and trim parts are like new. The previous owner had special (removable) stone chip protectors made to keep the bodywork in new condition. As a result, this car is in excellent condition and the quality class is particularly high. The body parts fit together well and the various rubber parts are also in good condition. The stylish white-wall tires give the car an extra stylish accent.

The interior is also as new. As mentioned earlier, the upholstery has been reupholstered, retaining as much originality as possible. The upholstery therefore looks exactly the same as when the car left the factory. The dashboard is also in very good condition and all instruments work properly. The chairs are very comfortable (we didn't expect anything less) and the enormous space is really surprising.

For a car from the 1950s, this Traction Avant drives exceptionally smoothly and comfortably. Steering is very smooth and shifting is also easy and accurate. The brakes feel solid and sturdy. The completely overhauled exchange engine runs particularly smoothly and quietly. The radiator has also been renewed and the car is also equipped with an electronic ignition. In short, this car is in top condition both technically and optically, waiting for the next enthusiast!
