Sommige verhalen zijn er om verteld te worden. Zet je schrap voor het verhaal van een verloren zoon, die opgroeide in de schaduw van zijn grote broers. Zelden hoorde je zijn naam… laat staan zijn brullende uitlaat. Verwekt in zware tijden, getekend door het verleden en in de vergetelheid geraakt. Maar nu… ontwaakt, opgelapt en gebrand om te knallen. Deze Lamborghini Jalpa is niet zomaar een auto. Een vechter pûr sang is uit het stof herrezen. En hij is pittiger dan een jalapeño. De stier is los!!!
Toen de gebroeders Mimran het merk Lamborghini opnieuw leven inbliezen na het faillissement van 1978, moest er iets radicaal anders. De collectie moest worden uitgebreid, het liefst met een nieuw instapmodel. Een auto die kon concurreren met de immens populaire Ferrari 308. Toegankelijker dan de Lamborghini Countach, één van de wildste en moeilijkst bestuurbare stieren op stal. Het begin van een ambitieus project was geboren, toen de eerste Lamborghini Jalpa tevoorschijn kwam uit de heilige hallen van de Lamborghini fabriek in Sant’Agata de Bolognese, Italie.
Met een productie aantal van slechts 410 verkochte modellen (1981-1988) was de Jalpa een ware hit, die Lamborghini financieel nieuw leven in blies. Maar al snel raakte de Jalpa uit het oog. Overschaduwd door de luidere, extremere en meer extravagante opvolgers zoals de Diablo en de Murciélago. Een van deze (voormalig) vergeten parels, staat nu bij ons. Het is tijd om deze auto eens in de schijnwerpers te zetten!
Voor je staat een unieke Jalpa. Bij uitstek één van de mooiste op de markt. De auto verkeert in perfecte staat en is bijna volledig gereviseerd en gerestaureerd. Extreem waardevol, gezien het al lage aantal gemaakte modellen. Ooit nieuw geleverd in Canada (dus met kilometerteller!), heeft deze auto maar 30.000km gereden. Waarom dan de restauraties? Deze auto heeft namelijk zolang stilgestaan dat niks het meer deed. Nu, met compleet gereviseerde motor, nieuw opgebouwde techniek en nieuwe vloerbedekking is hij zo goed als nieuw. Zelden kom je dit soort restauraties tegen, alles is beetgepakt. Het originele interieur is nog oogstrelend mooi. De handgeschakelde 5-bak, de 3.5L V8 motor en de felrode lak. Beter kan niet!
Het is niet voor niets dat de Jalpa juist nu weer in de spotlight staat. De stijl van de 80’s komt niet alleen terug in alle fashion trends van dit jaar, maar maakt wereldwijd op meerdere vlakken een enorme comeback. In het oog springende kleuren, gewaagde hoekige vormen, excentrieke speelse elementen. De Jalpa heeft het allemaal. De opvallende combinatie van het beige leer met het rood van de auto geeft een retro look die tijdloos oogt. De speelse geometrische lijnen komen terug in het typische jaren 80 Targa-dak, de pop-up koplampen, de brede, lage carrosserie. De overvloed aan luchtinlaten en ventilatieopeningen dienen niet alleen een esthetisch doeleinde, maar helpen ook nog eens met het reguleren van de motortemperatuur en aerodynamica. Weloverwogen keuzes die leiden tot een visueel opvallende, en technisch geavanceerde supercar. De Jalpa is ready to rumble.

When the Mimran brothers revived the Lamborghini brand after its bankruptcy in 1978, something radically different was needed. The collection had to be expanded, preferably with a new entry-level model. A car that could compete with the immensely popular Ferrari 308. More accessible than the Lamborghini Countach, one of the wildest and most challenging bulls in the stable. The beginning of an ambitious project was born when the first Lamborghini Jalpa emerged from the sacred halls of the Lamborghini factory in Sant'Agata de Bolognese, Italy.
With a production number of only 410 sold models (1981-1988), the Jalpa was a true hit that breathed new financial life into Lamborghini. But soon, the Jalpa faded from view, overshadowed by louder, more extreme, and more extravagant successors like the Diablo and the Murciélago. One of these (formerly) forgotten gems is now with us. Extremely valuable, given the already low number of models produced. Originally delivered in Canada, this car has only traveled 30,000 km. Why the restorations then, you might think? This car has been standing still for so long that nothing worked anymore. Now, with a completely revised engine, newly built technology, and new carpeting, it's back to a brand-new state. Rarely do you come across such restorations; everything has been touched. The original interior is still stunningly beautiful. The manual 5-speed, the 3.5L V8 engine, and the bright red paint. It couldn't be better!
