S O L D - Jaguar E-Type FHC Series 1 - 3.8
Specifications
History
The Jaguar E-Type FHC Series I, introduced in 1961, is a quintessential British sports car that combines stunning aesthetics with advanced engineering. Known for its sleek design and impressive performance, the Series I features a front mid-engine layout, independent suspension, and four-wheel disc brakes, making it a pioneer in automotive technology of its time. With the 3.8-litre engine producing 265 bhp, it could reach speeds of up to 150 mph and accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in under seven seconds. The Series I was produced until 1968 and remains highly sought after by collectors today due to its iconic status and limited production numbers and is celebrated for its historical significance and rarity in the automotive world.
The last owner of this E type, Julien B. of Burlington, Canada, has had the car for over 40 years and due to age it had to be sold. It is not difficult to get in the E-Type, but it does get tough to get out!
Julien still owns a Jaguar MK V DHC, Jaguar XK 140, 2002 Jaguar XJR and a 2004 Jaguar XK8. The whole collection, including the E-Type, was extensively used for Jaguar club meetings and Concourses. Julien and his wife Patricia cherished their Jaguars, Patricia joined him on the many trips and outings.
In the Nineties, the bodywork of this E-Type was partially restored, the floors and the sills were replaced. The E-Type was fully repainted in its original colour Old English White. Also, a full synchromesh E-Type Series I 4.2 transmission was fitted. The engine was rebuilt by Ian Johnson of Just Jags in Toronto, the brakes and suspension were rebuilt by John Keen of Cheshire Jaguar, also in Toronto. Bodywork was done by Kendrick British Car Restorations.
This E-Type still retains its original engine, which is running well and has an excellent oil pressure. The Jaguar presents itself as a strong driver and has an amazing, original interior. Unique, looking at the age of this Series 1 E-Type ( 60 + years!! ), original interiors are hardly seen anymore and it gives this E-Type a stunning period appearance.
The odometer shows 08.617 miles, we assume at the moment the total, original mileage is 108.617. That is less than 2.000 miles a year.
This lovely E-Type FHC can be sold ‘As Is’, but Noble House Classics will happily restore her back to full original specifications. Of course we can also modify her to your preference with upgraded suspension, brakes, cooling system and lighting. Airconditioning can be added or power steering, whatever you wish.
Please contact us to discuss the future of this unique leaping cat.
